LIGHTING: ALUMINIUM FRAME

Because I wanted the cube as bright as possible, I decided to light up the inside of it from the Aluminium frame. I want the light to be distributed evenly throughout the whole case, but because the frame is made out of U-shaped tube, there is precious little room for mounting LEDs; I also want as few LEDs visible as possible. The solution is simple: white plexi strips mounted flush with the frame should provide the diffuse light I am looking for.

Here are two of the plexi strips I made - I\'m mounting them with bolts so I can remove them easily if necessary.

The next step was to drill four 3mm holes in each strip to accomodate the white LEDs

Installing the LEDs and wiring them up was fairly straightforward, though I had to ensure a low profile as there was only about 6mm behind the plexi strip.

Testing went well (above) and full installation (below) yields that nice, white glow I was after.
